Accepting new clients for all services
Therapeutic Behavioral Consultation (TBC) provides behavioral expertise and training to individuals, parents, caregivers, and service providers. TBC aims to build and strengthen skills, reduce challenging behavior, increase independence, and set and meet new goals. This service is provided to individuals on Medicaid's DD waiver.
After securing TBC services with Spectrum Support Services, your consultant will perform an intake assessment to identify goals that align with TBC. A Behavior Support Plan (BSP) will be created to outline the individuals's goals and create an individualized approach to increase desired behaviors and decrease any identified challenging behaviors. The consultant will collaborate with parents, caregivers, services providers, and any other identified members of the client's support team. Data will be taken, analyzed, and reported on throughout this process. TBC is intended to be a short term service to provide individuals and their support teams the tools needed to manage their own behavioral health.
All Therapeutic Consultative services are billed to Medicaid via the individual’s DD waiver services. The current waivers that cover behavioral therapeutic consult services are the Family and Individual Support (FIS) and Community Living (CL) waivers. If you are already on a DD waiver, contact your Support Coordinator to request TBC through Spectrum Support Services. If you would like to apply for the DD waiver, contact your local Community Service Board (https://vacsb.org).
